Here are signs that indicate you may need to consider replacing your roof soon:

  • Missing or Damaged Shingles. Shingles can be damaged by strong winds, hail, falling debris, and the natural aging process. If you notice missing, cracked, or curling shingles, it's essential to have your roof inspected. In some cases, individual shingles can be replaced, while widespread damage may warrant a complete roof replacement. Damaged shingles can expose your roof to leaks and other issues, especially during Texas storms.
  • Visible Water Damage. Water stains on your ceiling or walls are clear indicators of a roof problem. Look for water spots or leaks inside your home.  A compromised roof can allow water to infiltrate your home, leading to problems such as damaged insulation, mold and mildew growth, rotting wood, and even structural damage.
  • Age of Your Roof. If your roof is more than 20 years old, it is likely time to start thinking about replacing it. As roofs age, they become more prone to damage and can start to fail. Find out how old your roof is by checking your inspection or appraisal report. A roof's life expectancy ultimately depends on the quality, durability and type of material chosen.
  • Granules in Gutters or Ground. Granules are the small, crushed stones and minerals you see on the surface of your roof's shingles. If  you see these granules scattered on the ground or gathered in the gutters, then you have a sign that the outer layer of protection has been compromised and the roof materials need to be repaired or replaced to prevent further damage.
  • Sagging Roof Deck. Sagging can be caused by a variety of reasons, from age to wind damage, but whatever the cause, it's a safety issue. Your roof is critical in protecting your home from the elements and maintaining its structural integrity.
  • Extreme Weather. The weather can be hard on a home. From the scorching Texas heat to the intense thunderstorms, keeping your home safe and secure is a challenge.  After a big weather event, you need to make sure your roof is inspected to prevent any damage from getting worse. There may be no problems, there may be small problems with minor maintenance, or there may be large problems that need attention right away.

If you are still unsure if your roof needs replacing, contact us to inspect your roof.  We can assess the situation and provide recommendations on the best course of action.

There are 2 different types of warranty:

  • Manufacturer's warranty. These warranties usually cover the roofing materials and can last an average of 20 years. They cover defective materials and components. For example, a standard warranty on an architectural asphalt shingle may cover the cost of new materials if there's a manufacturer defect, but it won't cover labor or tear-off costs.
  • Contractor's warranty. These warranties cover aspects of the installation quality and workmanship. Mario's Roofing offers a 3 year guarantee of labor.  However, this exclude issues that aren't related to installation such as storm damage, water damage, damage from foot traffic, or damages caused by the installation of solar panels.

The answer depends on a few factors, including the age of your roof, the type of roof you have, and whether or not you have trees near your house. Most roofs should be inspected at least once a year. This is especially true in Texas. High winds, heavy rain, and hail are all things that can seriously damage your roof.

Tearing off an old roof and installing a new one is a big project that takes up a lot of space around the perimeter of your home. Experienced roofers will work hard to minimize the dust and debris created during your roof’s installation, but there’s no getting around the fact that roofing is a messy, dusty job.

To protect outdoor items from debris and ensure the roofers can work as efficiently as possible, it’s important to clear driveways and sidewalks before the crew arrives.

If possible, move vehicles and other items away from your driveway. This ensures that your cars and other items will be safely away from any falling debris or dust.

If you have patio furniture, grills, or other items near the house, consider moving them into the garage or a shed or covering them with a tarp or plastic sheeting while the work is performed.

Also, if you store valuable items in your attic, consider moving them to a safe spot until the job is complete. If certain items are too bulky or heavy to move, try covering them with drop cloths or a plastic sheet to protect them from dust and shingle debris.
